“ Tasty Japanese Italian fusion food! Had the beef curry $19, karrage, and yuzu sake bottle $50, all were good. Restaurant vibes are cute! ”
“ Bon, Nene is a very cute and trendy place. The interior of the restaurant is very well decorated. It is a smaller restaurant, so there is a bit of a wait during peak dinner hours. I waited for around 20-25 minutes. The servers are friendly and I ordered the maguro bowl and the chicken katsu curry. I also got the frozen beer and royal milk tea. The food was good, although for the price, it would have been nicer to have a slightly bigger portion size. The beer was refreshing. For dessert, we got the milk crepe cake which was light and delicious. ”
“ Very tasty Japanese food - would recommend the Mentaiko spaghetti! They have a relatively small menu with some classic Japanese dishes. We tried their crispy tuna special which was delicious. It was an incredibly balanced bite in terms of flavors, textures, and temperatures. We really enjoyed the mentaiko spaghetti, this was very salty & umami & rich. Noodles still had a nice bite to them and the dish had this addictive salty appeal. Only comment on this one is that it is a one-noted dish but accompanied with other dishes, was no issue. We also really enjoyed the Gyudon; thin and rich slices of beef, sweet & savory sauce and well balanced with sharp / vinegar-y vegetables. Really nice tastes and textures, though it got a tad sweet at the end for my taste. The curry was fine but a little lacklust compared to the other dishes. Tonkatsu was good, except for the half that sat atop the curry and got a bit soggy. Curry itself wasn't bad but felt a little bit lacking in terms of depth of flavor. Cozy vibe and cute restaurant in the mission area. Staff was very friendly and the open kitchen layout was cool to see into some of the action. ”
“ You won't be leaving this place hungry! And do yourself a favor and get the Gyudon. Friend and I went a bit early to snag a spot - it gets busy quick so try and come as it opens! But we got a seat relatively quick even for a Saturday night! It is walk-in only (assuming for larger parties you'll have to call?) so that's why a friend and I went early. Super friendly staff, menu is not super large but I love that all the options are really solid. Everything was perfectly shareable and great portion sizes. We ordered karrage, miso soup and the tuna meatballs special for apps. Friend had the katsu and I got the Gyudon - everything was amazing but the Gyudon was the favorite of the evening. House hot sake is solid (filtered) and the dry sake was also super delicious. It had a very light aroma, wasn't really all that strong but had a great mouthfeel. Definitely a great place to go with friends/date night or even for larger groups! ”
“ My group and I got here around 6:40pm on a Friday night and didn't get seated until 7:40, so it was about an hour wait for a group of 3. We ordered the potstickers and karaage as appetizers and they came together! The potstickers were alright, a little burnt but still good. The karaage was good but the outside was not crispy enough. We ordered the mentaiko spaghetti, katsu curry rice and gyudon udon. The mentaiko has a really nice umami flavor to it. The curry was tasty and the katsu was crunchy on the outside but not as thick so it wasn't as meaty. The gyudon udon was cooked perfectly! The noodles were chewy and the meat was sweet. We also ordered the frozen beer and it was quite refreshing. ”
“ This is one of the cutest, coziest restaurants in all of SF!! The vibes inside are amazing, but they don't take reservations so be prepared to come early or wait a long time. We showed up at 5:50PM on a Saturday and were sat immediately but the restaurant filled up quickly. Definitely try the Mentaiko Pasta - so savory and comforting and the portion is huge! My friends had the curry, in both vegetarian and beef, and they enjoyed that as well. We started with the Vegetarian Small Bites and I would not recommend that - flavors were delicious but the portion was tiny. It was like banchan sized portions but they charged $12 for it. Everything else was reasonably priced and portioned though! ”
“ We were looking for a place that was open late after climbing at Mission Cliffs and found this place! The restaurant is super quaint and dimly lit. The food was pretty good - we ordered the katsu curry, mentaiko udon, and gyudon bowl. Katsu curry 10/10: curry had really good flavor and the katsu was nice and crispy. Gyudon bowl 7/10: beef was good but the ratio of meat to rice could be a bit better Champignon pasta 8/10: pretty good Service was also really nice. They let us in 30 min before closing ”
“ Bon, Nene's mentaiko spaghetti has me in an absolute chokehold! Don't ask me how anything else is here; I'm obsessed with this dish and I order it every single visit. I get a craving for it about once a month and have to return for lunch / dinner / takeout. I got my wisdom teeth out last month and the last real meal I had before a week of soft foods was literally this mentaiko spaghetti. I am obsessed. Attaching photos of my latest orders of this dish. If you do nothing else, please try it when you visit! ”
“ Food (1 of 2 stars): Food was pretty good. Chicken karaage was good and same with yuzu lemonade. I felt like the Gyudon had a bit too much rice in it, not as much protein, but the flavor overall was good. The spaghetti was a flavor I haven't had before and thought it was really good; it reminded me of a Japanese version of carbonara! Service (2 of 2 stars): Came on a Saturday just a bit after they opened and was still easily able to get a table for two. All servers were really friendly and helpful! Food also didn't take too long to come out. Ambiance (1 of 1 star): Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Dining room had a good vibe to it and the bathroom was clean ”
